Dr. Toumbis is a board certified, fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in cervical, thoracic and lumbar surgery. He received his undergraduate degree in Biology from New York University in 1987, then continued on to receive his Masters in Natural Sciences as well as a PhD in Experimental Pathology from State University of New York at Buffalo. He completed his medical degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine with a distinction in Biomedical Research.
After moving to Florida to complete his internship and residency in orthopedics at the University of Florida Shands Hospital, he went on to pursue a fellowship at Cleveland Clinic's Florida Spine Institute. He moved to Citrus County and has been in private practice since 2005.
Dr. Toumbis is board certified from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS) and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). He is also an active member of North American Spine Society (NASS), Florida Wellcare Alliance, and Florida Orthopedic Society (FOS). He was co-designer of one of the first FDA approved PEEK anterior cervical interbody cage, and is a principal designer for Alphatec Spine's Next Generation Pedicle Screw "Arsenal". He continues to actively design spine products which allows him to offer cutting edge, state-of-the-art technology to his patients.
He and his wife, Autumn, have three young children that keep them busy. His interests include spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, cycling, and photography.
The Team
Brittany is originally from Upstate New York where she attended Syracuse University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. In 2007, she graduated from LeMoyne College with a Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies. She has worked alongside Dr. Toumbis for twelve years providing excellent patient care.
She enjoys organic gardening, holistic medicine, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, rollerblading and spending time with her family and friends.
